During a visit back home to Columbia, Missouri, in the early 1980s, I attended a jam session. The drummer's ride cymbal feel was definitely Elvin. The drummer was Andrew Sieff, a pianist and nurse. When I commented on his ride sound he said, "Oh yeah, I studied with Elvin in New York." Years later Andrew gave me a cassette of his lessons with Elvin at the Drum School.
